It’s not the first time my favourite band defined or changed my holiday plans and somehow I have the feeling it won’t be the last time either. When early 2024 Marillion announced not only one but no less than 8 different weekends it was clear to me that only applying for a slot at the bi-annual weekend in Port Zelande would not be the only option this year. Vladi had decided not to join me as sharing a bungalow with 7 other people was not his thing. But fortunately there was still a long list of destinations to choose from; Montreal, Paris, Girona, Padua, Leicester, Oslo and Berlin.
Obviously we decided for Padua and as that Italian city is surrounded by a treasure of other breathtaking Italian cities we decided to make a full holiday of it. First we limited ourselves to Venice, Verona and Padua but then we extended it with Florence (which had been on my bucket list for a long time) and Bologna.
So on the 26th of April, two weeks before the first Marillion gig we took a flight to Florence where our exploration of North-East Italy started.
